Marina Barrage

This is actually my second visit to Marina Barrage and during my first visit I only went to a shelter to have a picnic, so I actually have not explored the place. My friends, Yan Xin and Jessica, and myself went there to take some photos. And here are what we got! :)

This is Jessica!

This photo is composed by my other friend, YanXin, she suggested using fingers to make a frame and the photo came out pretty good I would say.

The recent trend in levitation shots prompted us to give it a try. Its really just for fun, so its obviously not a perfect levitation shot.

Yan Xin and Jessica levitating?

The Golden Hour always does give amazing colours. The sun was setting, giving this warm yellowish glow and we were walking towards it. I noticed that the shadows from those people walking in front of me and thought it would make an interesting photo. So I got Yan Xin and Jessica to walk ahead of me.

I decided to try using a softer tone on the photo, but I still prefer the one above with the strong and harsh colours.

Trip to Labrador Park.

On Sunday, I went to Labrador Park to take a look at the place. I often see photos of the rocky beach shore and wanted to take a look at it myself. There was a lot more than I expected there, and some disappointments.

I believe I saw a path of a nature trail there, but I didn't have the time to venture. My parents and I took I walk along the shore, which is blocked up by railings probably cause it's pretty steep and rocky. There are some ancient war relics there, but I didn't stop to read about it. To my disappointment, I found out that the jetty and the beach front were closed off for safety reasons. :(

My father is a blogger and here he is busy snapping shots for his blog, http://www.gforce-guru.blogspot.sg/.

Here's a shot of my parents. [awwwww.... :)]

Of course I have to have photos of the famous rocky shore. This is the first time I'm trying out manual mode. All the while I've been using Aperture mode. I actually wanted to have those soft waters effect, so I decreased the shutter speed and increased the aperture. But I ended up with an overexposed photo. :/ I used Lightroom to get this effect.

The other problem I had was that the photos are blur because I did not bring my tripod, so the slight shake resulted in the blurring. :(

At this portion of the shore, the waves were rougher, giving those splashes when it hits the rocky shore. So I decided to try to capture the impact instead of having the soft waters.

Wandering further in the area, I found a maze (made out of wooden pillars?) in the sandy playground. Thought I might get some interesting shots.

As the sun was setting, the lighting was getting better and I found a few trees where only portions of it were illuminated by the sun light. I asked my Mum to stand where the light was and out came these photos. :)

As were we leaving, I realised that the setting sun was really making the photos so beautiful due to the lighting. I had to get my Dad to stop for one last shot. He was laughing at something we said and out came this very natural shot.

Hope you enjoyed looking at the photos! I do welcome feedback, but I have not gotten by chatbox up yet, sorry about that. I'll do it soon! :)

Gardens by The Bay

My first visit to Gardens by The Bay, the newly open attraction in Singapore. I rushed down straight after work to meet my friend. My main intention was to just walk around and take a look at the place, but I brought a camera just in case I wanted to take photos.

Lighting was not good as I already missed the golden hour by the time I got there. So this is the only photo that turned out nice.

I'll be going down again some time next month. Hope I'll get better shots! :)

Singapore Garden Festival 2012

Singapore Garden Festival is held every two years and this is my third time there. Photographing flowers isn't exactly what I'm most talented at, but I decided to try my best.

All the exhibits were beautiful, but I really didn't know how to capture them on camera. Here are a few photos that I took and turned out quite well.

Chasing Butterflies

I had a really hard time photographing butterflies yesterday. I'm still not used to my camera, so I'm having a badly aching body today. Some photos did not come out well as I ran out of strength to lift up the camera to the correct angle. Plus it really doesn't help that I'm short.

I do know that my photos are not perfect, but I will try to do better next time. I was so busy chasing butterflies that I failed to take notice of the backgrounds.

I hope you enjoy looking at what I have taken. :)
